Born in Jhapa, eastern Nepal, Sita Pandey is a distinguished Nepalese writer and literary
advocate. She first gained recognition with her debut short story collection, Jworo, which was
later translated into English as Fever and published by Nirala in 2002. Over the years, she has
authored three additional short story collections, including Sitapandey ka Katha Haru, and a
critically acclaimed novel, Antardwand. She also co-authored Avataar Bighatan, a collaborative
novel written with over a dozen prominent Nepali writers.
Pandey's influence extends well beyond fiction. She has made significant contributions to
Nepal’s leading newspapers and magazines through her thought-provoking articles and
columns, showcasing her versatility and depth as a writer. A passionate advocate for women’s
rights and Nepali literature, she is an active member of the Nepal Literary Journalists’
Association and serves as the president and trustee of the International Nepali Literary Society
Award Committee, based in Washington, D.C. She also leads the Annal Foundation in Nepal,
an organization dedicated to fostering education, sports, arts, and culture among youth.
Her engagement with global cultural forums has taken her to conferences around the world.
Through her leadership in the International Nepali Literary Society, Pandey has been
instrumental in promoting cross-cultural literary dialogues and preserving Nepal’s literary
heritage.
